OTP Not Received? 12 Checks Before You Retry

Waiting on a code that never comes is frustrating. Run through these twelve checks before you burn another number.

A missing verification code is almost always fixable. Before you buy a second number, work through this list in order.

Checks on your side

  1. Did you request the code after buying? The SMS can only arrive once the app has actually sent it.
  2. Is the number typed exactly? Include the country code and no extra zero, spaces or plus signs the app does not expect.
  3. Did the timer expire? Orders have a time limit. If it ran out, cancel and start fresh.
  4. Is the right service selected? A number bought for one app will not reliably receive another app's code.
  5. Did you press "resend" too many times? Rapid resends make many platforms throttle you. Wait a few minutes.
  6. Is your own connection stable? A weak connection can make the app fail to send the request at all.

Checks on the platform side

  1. Is the country supported? Some apps reject numbers from countries they do not serve.
  2. Has this number been used before? Numbers that already verified the same app are often refused.
  3. Is the app asking for a call instead? Some flows offer voice verification — pick SMS only.
  4. Is your IP or device flagged? Too many sign-ups from one device can pause codes. Try later or on another connection.

Checks on the number

  1. Try a different number. If one number is blocked, another from a different batch may work immediately.
  2. Check for a refund. If the order ended without a code, confirm your wallet was refunded and contact support if it was not.

The golden rule

Do not keep waiting on a number that is clearly dead. Cancel, check your wallet and switch numbers — it is quicker and cheaper than waiting out the timer.
